What is Charlie and Zoe
“Charlie & Zoe, Adventures in Africa” is a series of short high energy stories about the love and friendship between the Farm horse Charlie and the zebra mare, Zoe.
The couple’s relationship evolves from the trepidation of their first encounter to a great friendship. Their friendship then evolves to trust and reliance in each other. Charlie and Zoe’s relationship grows into a strong bond between the two and their group of friends.
The couple helps each other to understand and experience the differences of life on the farm and life in the wild. They gallop together through adventures on the African savannah, the forested Hills and farm country. Charlie and Zoe share the fun and danger with a group of animal and human friends. This group of friends includes Zoe’s sisters, Charlie’s father and brothers at the farm, a very wise and sarcastic giraffe. A brave and strong rhino. A very enthusiastic and slightly aggressive wildebeest. Also a messenger bird that flies between them. The interactions, respect and loving relationship between Charlie’s owner, the farmer and Charlie demonstrate the importance of love, respect and caring for the animals that live along side of us.

I created the Charlie & Zoe stories to tell my daughter at her bedtime
My intent was to create stories that would reinforce strong personal values and character in my child. The values of friendship, loyalty, courage and self-reliance are integral to the storyline. The stories give lessons in positive self-image, self-respect, the respect of others, and acceptance for the difference of others. These stories also reinforce the compassionate treatment of animals, and a love of nature.
The stories of “Charlie & Zoe” are based on the traditional values that sustain us generationally and add to our lives. Standing up for one's self, one's friends, and one's family are key lessons in the stories. The stories show a child that it is important to express justice and fair treatment of others and at the same time the stories illustrate the concepts of danger and personal safety. A child can also take away from the stories both a love for nature and a healthy respect and caution of the natural world.
The Charlie and Zoe Books and Stories are Illustrated by Isabella Anna Cafro
Isabella has developed into a talented artist and has chosen to illustrate the Charlie and Zoe stories that she grew up listening to. Bringing to life the stories to share her love of animals and her respect of the natural world.
